Laboratories
The college owns well equipped laboratory in response to changing demands of different curricular area and other teaching learning resources. The college has a clear cut policy for the enrichment and modernization of laboratories.
1) HAP and biochemistry lab:
It is modernized and well equipped lab which has all the desired facilities required for the students. HAP and Biochemistry lab is used to transfer practical view points to pharmacy students about different parts, joints and physiological systems of the human body. Various apparatus charts and models are used in the lab to show various biochemical reactions and effect of these reactions upon human body. In this lab human skeleton, sphygmomanometer, heamoglobinmeter, haemocytometer etc are used for the demonstration and measurement of various anatomical and physiological parameters.
2) Pharmaceutics and pharmacy practice lab
Knowledge alone does not help in securing success, the students must have the capacity to articulate and present their view point’s effectively. In this lab the various equipments such as disintegrator and dissolution test apparatus etc are used to check the availability of drug particles in solution state from the marketed dosage form to further measure the onset and duration of action in the human body. The various other apparatus such as collapsible ointment/ampoule filling and sealing machine, tablet punching machine, capsule filling machine, friability test apparatus, autoclave, hot air oven, centrifuge apparatus, etc are used to get the practical knowledge regarding preparation and analysis of various dosage forms, that helps the students to work in the pharmaceutical industry as analytical and manufacturing chemist.
The lab has been attached with inbuilt well furnished temperature and humidity controlled aseptic room provided with double door entry/window and laminar air flow working bench with gas connection to check and analyze the sterility of the different dosage form and apparatus.
3) Pharmacology lab
The various apparatus like photoactometer, analgeasiometer, convulsometer, histamine chamber, double unit organ bath etc are used to demonstrate the activities of various animals like rats, mouse and guinea pig for in-vitro and in-vivo study. Further various computer software’s such as Chemdraw, Chemscreen, Heart, IJP Calcd (G), ISIS Draw 2.3 and Plot area etc are used by the students in the computer centre to study the effect of various drugs on the isolated organ or animals. Various charts, anatomical models, dissecting kits are also used to by the students for their practical’s.
4) Pharmacognosy lab
The various apparatus/charts/models/microspores are used by students for morphological and microscopically study of crude drugs from plant and animal origin. The medicinal plant garden of the institute helps the students for cultivation, collection, preparation and standardization of the active constitutes from the crude drugs. With the help of various apparatus lab also equips the students about the various methods of extraction and evaluation of different active constituents from the plant and animal origin.
5) Pharmachemistry lab
Pharmachemistry lab is equipped with fuming cupboard, melting point apparatus, digital pH meter, vacuum pump, buckner funnel, water bath, desiccators, centrifugal apparatus etc. to transfer analytical and chemical knowledge to the students about the various salts and dosage forms. The lab is also provided with gas connection, water supply, sinks and marble slabs to perform the various practical’s. To cop up with the harmful and accidental effect of strong acid, strong bases and noxious gases the students are trained. The lab is also inbuilt attached with operational balance room, which is outfitted with analytical, physical and electronic balances to perform errorless weighing while performing the practical’s.
Machine room and museum
The Institute has developed its own machine room and museum for diploma in pharmacy students to aware them about various new machines, models, new marketed dosage forms, various surgical instruments and various types of packaging available in the market. All marketed preparations and crude drugs from the plant and animal origin are displayed in showcase so that students can easily learn about them. Single punch tablet machine, tablet coating pan, ampoule/ointment filling and sealing machine, ampoule washing machine, aseptic cabinet, tablet counter, capsule filling & sealing machine, distillation assembly, dissolution, disintegration, friability test apparatus, ampoule clarity test apparatus etc. have been installed in machine room to transfer the practical and operational knowledge to the students.
